New Vette Doctors Warhawk LS7X Engine for my 8sec Vette
Length: 00:45
Over the past few months The Vette Doctors and I have been working on updates to my 8 sec Street Beast. At the end of last season we decided that we were going to work on a few weak links in the LSx combination and go through the car for this season. At the same time The Vette Doctors also went through an incredible transformation as they moved to a new shop with more then double the Sq footage and lifts! If you have not seen it, it is outstanding!! Being the loyal customer I am of over 10 years, I told them to get that settle and then let's focus on my car. Unfortunately, that gave Carmen, Dennis and I more time to dream up changes !! We began by upgrading the ignition system to a distributor based system with a digital control box, upgrading the DFI software, adding a RacePak (thanks TurboPeople for your help in spec'ing this out) and changing the intake system to a GM Aluminum Intake. As we plotted this all out we starting looking at the block and heads and considered our options. My LS2 block had almost 200 runs on it and we needed to have it re-honed. After weighing all the pros and cons we decided economically it made sense to upgrade the block. We considered going to the LSX block but GM had a hold on the product and it was not available plus the extra 100 pounds did not make sense. Given that we wanted the additional clamping power of the extra head bolts without the extra wt., we considered an after market block. After checking with GM on the availability of the Aluminum LSX and hearing it was still way off in the future we considered the Warhawk. With help from Wade Stevens and World products we went with the Warhawk. I swapped out my ETP LS7 heads for ETP Warhawk LS7 heads and away we went. Freddie Brown upgraded my transmission and Neil Chance freshened up my converter as well. Joey has done an incredible job with the install, wiring and plumbing of the new system we are going to and Denny as always has done an incredibly meticulous job with the new Warhawk. I watched as he built it with his own 2 hands spec'ing out the bearings, rings, caps, pistons etc! Absolutely Beautiful!! As you can see we have put a lot of time, money and sweat into this car this year and we do not want to rush it. I have also been really swamped at work as you could tell since this is the first I am even posting of this. Our plans are to take it to a track rental in the next few weeks and get her dialed back in!
