New College Graduates

Length: 01:44

New college graduates face many challenges when they enter the working world. Insurance is one of them. Athena Argyropoulous is a career counselor who says most new graduates don't have a clue about insurance, they are in a university setting, a safe heaven, and their parents have been taking care of it. The Insurance Information Institute says new grads are often dismayed by the cost of auto insurance. Todd Muller of the Independent Insurance Agents of American says he tells young people that if they can't afford the insurance, they can't afford the car. To save money on auto insurance, new graduates can consider buying a profile care that will be unattractive to thieves and has low repair costs. Anti theft devices and a higher deductible will also reduce premiums. New grads also need renters insurance. The Insurance Information Institute says new grads should shop around for insurance, ask plenty of questions, and don't buy anything until you fully understand it, so that you will get the very best deal.
