Sophie Michelle Ellis-Bextor (born 10 April 1979) is a multi-platinum selling English pop singer and songwriter. Her music is a mixture of mainstream pop, disco and 1980s electronic influences. A greatest hits album is due for release in late spring 2008. On January 14th 2008, Sophie herself confirmed the Tour and the Greatest Hits were to be postponed, because she wants to release songs which are the best she could possibly make, and she needs more time for that. For now, Sophie has worked with Groove Armada, Calvin Harris and Cathy Dennis as well as Richard X[17] on new tracks for the album, with one expected to be released as a single prior to the album's release. The compilation will, according to Sophie, feature two new tracks in addition to the single releases from her first three studio albums. One of the new tracks is a re-recording of "Off and On", an outtake from Roisin Murphy's album Overpowered, written by Calvin Harris and Cathy Dennis (the original version leaked onto file sharing services in the summer of 2007). As well as this, a new track written with Freemasons entitled "Heartbreak Make Me a Dancer" is a strong candidate for the first single released off of the Greatest Hits. Sophie has also stated that she desires to include at the very least, one track from her days as the lead vocalist in theaudience.The Greatest Hits will feature a bonus disc, although Ellis-Bextor is unsure as to what material will feature on the disc. It will collect either Ellis-Bextor's B-sides and studio covers, or the videos which accompanied her single releases.As her tour was once again delayed, Sophie apologized to her fans on her official website by making available for free download an exclusive song called "Love Is The Law".
