It's an interesting idea of using atmospheric air to run car. I don't know much about the technology. According to BBC's report it's by French inventor Guy Negre (who used to work in F1).The air is stored as compressed air in carbon-fiber tank in the chassis.The car weights 350kg with the air tank that takes just 3min to fill (much quicker than charging battery cars) with a mileage of about 120 mpg.About the fear of explosions from the compressed air Mr Negre says there's no issue with safety - if the air-car crashes the air tanks won't shatter - they will split with a very loud bang.
