Drift battles from Formula Drift Round 1, The Streets of Long Beach, April 12th, 2008. Filmed from grandstand 25 showing final three turns of the course. Competition among the Top 16 is shown initially. Drifters battle to advance by running twice, once as the lead car and once as the trailing car. Performance is judged qualitatively based on speed, sideslip angle, racing line, and general style by judges near the 2nd turn. A score of 0 to 10 is awarded per run, with a score of zero for spinouts or if the driver sustains small sideslip (stop drift) for any period. Drift battles repeat for the Final 8, then Final 4. The last two drift competitions are the first-second battle and the battle for third. Project240.net
