ENGLISHTOWN, N.J., June 21, 2008 -- Greg Anderson captured his 64th career raceday pole today at the 39th annual Lucas Oil Supernationals by driving the Summit Racing Pontiac GXP to a Pro Stock category leading elapsed time of 6.599 seconds at 209.23 mph. It was the second No. 1 qualifier this season for the 47-year-old Mooresville, N.C., resident and his fourth career pole at this venue (2003-04, 2007-08). "It's been awhile for us," Anderson said. "We've had great cars all year -- these Pontiac GXPs have been fantastic, but we've been lost with some of the other aspects of our program. When the tracks started getting hot and sticky, we kind of lost our tune-up with the engines and we had to figure out where we had gone wrong. When the air was cool, we ran okay, but as soon as it got hot, they didn't want to run, so we've been doing our homework. It looks like we've turned the corner and have these cars running good in all conditions. It feels great to have cars that can qualify No. 1 and be competitive on raceday. The class is so full of talent right now that anytime you can qualify No 1, it's quite a feather in your cap." http://media.gm.com/gmracing http://www.gmracing.com www.gmc.com www.pontiac.com www.chevy.com # # # #
